Vinay Takwale is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. He specializes in the treatment of injuries and other conditions of the upper limb (the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand). He is especially interested in treatment of these conditions by arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery. Such surgery involves advanced modern techniques that result in faster recovery periods for his patients. He is also interested in joint replacement surgery in the upper limb for arthritis and fractures.

Vinay Takwale is currently a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust. He provides private practice from Winfield Hospital in Gloucester and the Nuffield Hospital in Cheltenham. Vinay carried out his Higher Surgical Training in the United Kingdom in Orthopaedics and Trauma as a Specialist Registrar on the South Thames (St. George's Hospital) Orthopaedic Training Programme. He passed the speciality examination (FRCS Trauma & Orthopaedics) in May 1999. Following this he undertook a Specialist Fellowship in Upper Limb Surgery at Wrightington Hospital.

Locations

Winfield Hospital is located on the outskirts of the City of Gloucester. The hospital currently has 45 beds including three twin-bedded rooms all with en-suite facilities.

Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, situated just off the A40, on the outskirts of Cheltenham, was opened in December 2000 following a move from a smaller site.
